1. RE: Battlestar Mythology VS Caprica Mythology
Feb 3 2009, 8:32 PM EST
I'm glad to hear that Caprica will be mythologically distinct from BSG -- it's important that they go back to a colonial civilization that is ignorant of EVERYTHING we've learned about the Cylons during the course of BSG. It's a whole different mindset. This civilization has not yet met (nor even imagined) the apocalypse that will shape its destiny.

I hope die-hard BSG fans won't dismiss Caprica because it's a "terrestrial drama." If they have the same team as BSG, then I'm there. I am constantly amazed by Battlestar. It should be winning mainstream awards for acting and writing. :(Do you find this valuable? |

Terrestrial drama means it's not set in space. Technically "Caprica" will be sci-fi because it takes place on another planet and there is sci-fi technology, but it looks very much like that angle will be downplayed and the show will be about the people, living lives very similar to ours. The original preview even pulled a little switcheroo by making the show seem like any Earthbound primetime drama -- no indication that it's connected to BSG at all until Esai Morales, at the very end, says "My family name is Adama."Imagine "Dallas" with the Ewing and Barnes families relocated to Caprica, and I think that's what they're shooting for. Don't expect to see a lot of spaceships. Do you find this valuable? |

Ha! Dallas meets BSG. That's a great analogy. Do you find this valuable? |
