Cylon/skinjob
May 19 2008, 6:13 PM EDT
Allright, i have a question about some things. Apparently in the pilot, Adama or someone was walking through the Battlestar museum and it showed an old Cylon, which was supposed to be a homage i think to the first show. This cylon on display was apparently an early version of the Drone. or the drone types that Adama fought in the first war. Okay, so with that in mind, let's discuss what we know: Humans supposedly built the first Cylons. Those cylons rebelled. There was a big war, a truce was truck, and then the humans said, "you guys canhave this section of space, and we won't mess with you and we'll talk with you, once every six years or so?" Basically? Right? Okay, so the pilot opens. six walks in, and kills the human ambassadore and the war starts, with the nuking of Caprica? and every other colony?OKAY, so, what we're let to believe is, int he 13 odd years, since first cylon war, and the current war, the DRONES and the rAIDERS, evolved and created the skin Jobs? That's CRAZY. No way. I think it's clear that the drones and the Raiders discvered the Skin Jobs, and they (skin jobs)_took control. Do you find this valuable?

You have the timeline a little wrong. There were forty years between the armistice at the end of the first Cylon war and the return of the Cylons with Six walking into the Armistice Station, and then nuking the Colonies. The humans sent a diplomat one every year. In those forty years, as I understand it from inference, the mechanized Cylons (Centurions) had engaged in biotechnological research and development, which led them to the creation of the "skinjobs."Also, in BSG Razor, there is a flashback scene where William Adama (in the first Cylon War) ejects from his Viper after an aerial encounter, and when he lands, discovers a Cylon laboratory that was used for such biotechnological research. There were captured humans who were meant to be used for experimentation, and Adama also discovered the first Hybrid. This hybrid was later destroyed in BSG Razor with the nuke. What this proves, however, is that even at the time of the first Cylon War, the mechanized Cylons were already creating the first few hybrids, which would lead to the skinjob models. I would doubt that the skinjobs were another race of beings that were discovered by and subsequently dominated the mechanized Cylons. If that were the case, why would they have such a religious and spiritual affinity for the Cylon race, especially their mechanical Centurions and half-mechanical, half-biological raiders? I hope this helps. There's a good book called "Frak You!" that's an unofficial guide to the first three seasons of BSG, and may be of some help as well. Do you find this valuable? |
