It's unclear what form this might take: a remake of the original series? A continuation? What is clear is that die-hard fans of the 1978 series might soon have a chance to revisit the Battlestar universe once inhabited by Dirk Benedict, Lorne Greene, and, dare we hope... Muffit? What do think? Fact or fantasy? Brilliant move, or yet another cinematic rehash of 70s television (a la Starsky and Hutch, The Dukes of Hazzard, Charlie's Angels)? Start a thread and let us know what you think... |

Will this "new version of the old version" change Starbuck back into a man? Will there be a monkey in a dog suit? Will the heroes play sports wearing brightly-colored speedos? How will they ever find an eyebrow-arching villain as wonderfully evil as John Colicos? Is Patrick Macnee available for voiceover work?
I can't wait to hear more!

Great opportunity for Mr. Larson to do Battlestar right this time. If its a remake, I hope he stays with the ideas and themes of the classic show. If it its a continuation, then he should seek out Richard Hatch and the others to do this movie and do it right. I hope Mr. Larson will understand that had it not been for Richard Hatch's contributions to bring back the show and to bring about the fan base, there may have never been a Battlestar Galactica by Ron Moore. Mr. Larson, listen to the fans and do things that please the fan base and good things will happen for a new movie. Personally, I want a continuation with Richard and Dirk and Herb.

I've been trying to see if I could contact Mr. Larson, but I am unable to find an e-mail address.
The thing that I wanted to tell Glen - is to have his crew design a Cylon Baseship that can scare the living crap out of everyone. Being once in the NAVY, I see what the close in weapon system is capable of, plus the mid to long range weapon platforms. Because of this, I know how a Cylon Baseship should be constructed. The moment I saw that Baseship design 30 years ago, I knew it's full battle capabilities. That dual saucer design can kick ass 360 degrees, by +/-90 degrees elevation, and that's what people in sci-fi do not understand. The present day military weapon systems, and the name of the game is speed and power. Today, mankind reaction time can't compete with neither, and again, that's what sci-fi needs to understand.
