Battlestar Galactica Issue 0
The New Battlestar Galactica
written by Greg Pak (Incredible Hulk)
pencilled by Nigel Raynor

This 12 issue comic book series takes place in the second season of the show and tells the story of the Returners, the prophesied long-lost family members of both Galactica crew and fleet civilians.

Though like all peripheral BSG-related media, it is not considered canon, it is a great read and offers poignant insights into existing characters.
Season Zero Issue 1
Battlestar Galactica Season Zero
written by Brandon Jerwa
pencilled by Jackson Herbert

This ongoing series tells stories from the time before Galactica was being decommissioned. Not considered canon and prone to mistakes in Colonial military terminology usage, it has nevertheless been an engaging read which builds on the stories and characters we know so well in a consistent way. Brandon Jerwa doesn't get all the details right (there's a bit when a Viper pilot refers to himself as "Viper actual"), but he knows the BSG universe quite well and spins some compelling yarns within it.
Zarek Issue 2
Battlestar Galactica: Zarek
written by Brandon Jerwa
pencilled by Adriano Batista

A four issue miniseries telling the story of Tom Zarek in greater detail than we have been shown but staying very faithful to all we know of him from the show. Brandon Jerwa carefully selects elements, characters, and events from Zarek's past and uses them to construct a story so consistent it might as well be canon (though, again, it is not).

From birth to the Astral Queen, this series helps make sense of one of BSG's most fascinating characters.
Pegasus One-Shot
Battlestar Galactica: Pegasus
written by Brandon Jerwa
pencilled by Jonathan Lau

This single issue story was released to coincide with Razor and tells a story of Pegasus just before the Cylon attacks. It is one of many tales entrusted to Brandon Jerwa, whose enthusiasm for and commitment to the BSG universe comes through in every panel.
Origins Issue 1
Battlestar Galactica: Origins
writers and pencillers: Various

This is a series of miniseries, each of which focusses on a different character from BSG, filling in their background and offering answers to questions about their motivations. While the standard "this is not canon" disclaimer applies here as well, this series has so far proved to be consistent with what we know and reasonable as conjecture regarding aspects to characters that are unlikely to be explored within the show. The first set of 4 issues told the story of Gaius Baltar from childhood through the Cylon attacks.

Sagittarius is Bleeding
Sagittarius Is Bleeding by Peter David (Incredible Hulk, X-Factor) This authorized tie-in novel is not canon, but it is a thoroughly engaging read that takes place during Season 2, after Roslin's cancer is cured. The book explores the cure's effects on Roslin as she deals with the changes to her destiny that may be implied by receiving the blood of the Cybrid. It is worth noting that Peter David's instincts are so on the money with regard to the BSG universe that he was instructed to alter the plot from his original proposal, as he had written a storyline way too similar to what was already planned for the show's third season! Also, enjoy the return of a character who long since dropped off the radar on the show!
So Say We All
So Say We All edited by Richard Hatch A collection of well thought out essays on the series and the world it inhabits.
