Athena and HeloThis is a featured page

Helo and AthenaThis pairing started out as the Cylons' experiment with True Love™ down on Caprica, because it was suspected that emotional connection was the missing element in their to-date unsuccessful attempts to create a Cylon-human hybrid. Sharon Valerii (version 2.0) was created to exactly mimic the Boomer Helo knew and dispatched to join him on the planet after he gave up his ride to Gaius Baltar.

Helo knew Boomer and Chief Tyrol were an item, and he respected that fact, but he confessed he'd always had feelings for Boomer as well. She kissed him, and before long, she was pregnant with the first Cybrid baby in history.

Once Helo became aware of her true nature, he reacted badly at first, but even still, he couldn't ignore his feelings for her and the time they'd shared. By the time they were reunited with the fleet, he was fully committed to their relationship and sworn to protect her and their baby at all costs. His devotion cost him nearly everything, including his life, but he stood firmly by Sharon's side, even when she, in despair over their child's apparent death, told him to get lost.

When most of the fleet settled on New Caprica, Helo and Sharon got married. He took up Tigh's old post on Galactica, and she was sworn in as a Colonial officer and given the call sign Athena. Eventually, Athena and Boomer crossed paths, and the original Sharon Valerii told her replacement that her baby, Hera, was alive after all, travelling with the Cylon fleet. Athena begged her husband to kill her while the Cylons were in range, so that she could download on their ship and rescue Hera. Helo did what she asked, despite his anguish, and his faith in her was rewarded when she returned, their baby in her arms.
